The motive behind it different for scientists at stages of their career. It helps juniors get more publications and thereby have faster promotions probably better employment opportunities. For advanced in careers, getting scientific recognition possible financial gains. not disadvantages. held responsible over inflation number authors per article publications. On individual level, dilutes each author may ruin reputation an if data integrity were found questionable after publication.
